Make it a Great Day

Making it a great day is one of the many choices we can make each day, but it takes more than a simple statement to make it happen. We must engage in activities that are purposeful and will move our lives in the direction we want them to go. It is a strategic choice and process that we are all capable of doing, and producing, if we are willing to put in the effort.

Make it a great day: n nComplete a Task – Complete a task first thing in the morning, so momentum is on your side; do something you can feel good about so your day is off to a productive start. These are easy tasks like making your bed, making a healthy breakfast, or a morning workout.nnCreate a Morning Gratitude List – We all have much to be grateful for, so write it down.nnSet Your Commitments and Intentions for the Day – Define those tasks that, if completed, will move your life in the direction you want it to go.

    n

  • Commitments must be measurable – i.e., Today I will drink 120 ounces of water; Today I will work 10-hours; Today I will have a conversation with …

  • n

  • Intentions are more of an aim – i.e., Today, I will accept outcomes rather than get angry when things don't work out the way I want; Today, I will not worry about what other people are doing and focus on what I control.

Pause & Review – Confirm throughout the day that you are working on the commitments you set and not allowing yourself to be distracted.nnBe Honest on Your Progress – Ask for help if stuck or being slowed down by uncertainty. Refocus yourself if you are being lazy or get distracted.nnReview at the End of the Day – Before going to bed, review how the day went. This is a time to celebrate the wins and identify the "why" behind the losses. Also, take a minute to state again what you are grateful for.nnDo It Again Tomorrow.

If each day you define and follow-through on what are the most important things you can be doing, you are bound to get where you want to go.
